Roman Provincial

MYSIA, Pergamum. Claudius. 41-54 AD. Æ 18mm (5.20 gm). Commemorative issue struck under Domitian, circa 81-96 AD. Bare head right / Tetrastyle temple enclosing statue of Augustus. cf. RPC I 2370. VF, dark green and brown patina. Possibly unique.

This magistrate is unpublished for any Pergamene issue. Nevertheless, he has the title of strategos, which places the issue under the reign of Domitian. RPC notes a few issues of Augustus that were apparently struck under Domitian, as the present coin (cf. RPC I pp. 399-400).

Estimate: $75
